Authorities of the Liberia Labour Congress (LLC) want dialogue between employees and management of the Firestone Plantations Company to find an amicable solution to the unilateral redundancy carried out by them (Firestone).

A letter addressed to Labour Minister Neto Zarzar Lighe yesterday, said the Congress is appealing to Minister Lighe to halt Firestone’s job cuts and benefits payments to the employees already affected and reinstate them to their respective areas of assignment.

The LLC statement said that workers of the National Tripartite Council (NTC), represented by the congress, is hurt over the unilateral action by management of the Firestone company from the employers’ constituency to carry out mass redundancy without firstly meeting the concerns of the NTC at its Session.

The LLC has meanwhile promised to hold Consultations with its Members aimed at deciding a counter position under the theme: “An injury to one is an injury to all.”
