The Gododin Market in Ganta was recently inaugurated in Nimba County. With an estimated cost of US$ 65,000, the market forms part of the US$5 million allotted for Legislative Development Fund in the National Budget.
The Gododin Market is the second market complex in Ganta. Situated at the outskirt of the city on the road to Saclepea, it was built to accommodate residents in nearby communities, including LPMC, Valley and the LPRC Communities.
There were several government officials, including Central Bank Governor Mills Jones, Senator Prince Johnson, Rep. Jeremiah Koung, as well as other representatives and local officials in attendance.
The city authority of Ganta is embarking on many other market projects in some of the communities in Ganta, particularly for those living far from the central market.
The main market under the “Sirleaf Market Women Fund” is yet to be completed, over two years after the start of construction. Recently, the acting Mayor of Ganta, Mr. Dokpa, said the construction of the Ganta General Market under the Sirleaf Market Women Fund is at a standstill. Citizens have, however, expressed their concern about the delay.
