AICOL ‘Setting Standards for Insurance Agents’

In an effort to set a standard for insurance agents and to develop an efficient sales organization in Liberia, the African Insurance Corporation of Liberia (AICOL) last Saturday graduated 46 youthful insurance agents.

The agents were trained in fundamental of basics insurance policy with emphasis on life insurance and consultative selling to clients.

Making brief remarks at the program, the president and chief executive officer of AICOL, Collins F. Siafa urged the newly trained agents to always strive to present their company's products and services as relevant to clients who will then realize the need for same.

Mr. Siafa told the graduates that the growth of AICOL depends on their performances as agents, which will make their clients realize the benefits that the insurance company provides.

He further said that the job (insurance agent) is not an easy job and as requires commitment of individuals who are business minded.

The AICOL boss advised them to continually improve their communication skills, advertisement and demonstrate as a business agent.

“This training you people received today is to go out there to solve many of the problems that businesses and individuals are faced with.” He said.

For his part, Jefferson Bates, a professional sales trainer hired by the company, said the primary goal of AICOL is to offer skills training for sale agents, the first Liberian insurance company to do so.

Mr. Bates said AICOL wants to set a standard in the insurance industry. "Training agents is part of a vision set forth by Mr. Siafa, CEO of the company, who felt the need for us to develop an efficient sales organization at AICOL."

AICOL, he said is a Liberian company that is here to offer affordable insurance policies to its people.

He noted that during the heat of the Ebola crrisis, lots of people lost their lives, homes and livelihoods.

Based on that, we thought it wise to train agents that will go out there to educate the people on the importance of insurance and its benefits.

“We believe that developing a skillful force will be critical and will meet the need of the people and AICOL will set the standard for all insurance industries that are operating in the country,” said Bates.

Though there are many insurance companies in Liberia but AICOL is here to make them improve the lives of people because we are a Liberian company, he added.
