Arthur Quaqua Is Liberia’s Fastest Man

17-year-old sprinter, Arthur Quaqua, set a new best time at 10.44 seconds in the 2021 Liberia Athletics Federation Club Championship.

17-year-old sprinter, Arthur Quaqua, dominated the 100-meter and 200-meter heats respectively and finished first in the two events with new recorded time on Saturday.

Quaqua stunned Liberians over the weekend after winning his 100m and 200m races to retain the titles for the second time, and securing his coveted spot on the national athletics team.

Setting a new best time at 10.44 seconds, Quaqua  became a household name in the 100m event.

In just 22.19 seconds, he reached the finish line of the 200m, setting another incredible record to become the fastest athlete (man) in Liberia.

Following his domination in two events, he was one of the sources of motivation for his club, Fast Track, to win this year's Club Championship.

Meanwhile, Teakai Saybah Kolee and Lee Robert Dennis  have become the new middle distance and long distance runners, respectively.

Saybah convincingly emerged first in the 1,500m and 800m middle races respectively and won two gold medals at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex during the 2021 Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF) Club Championship.

She finished with a record time of 5:41 at the 1,500m race, and 2:33.28 at 800m race.

The new Liberian middle distance athlete helped her club, Liberty Athletics Club, to grasp second place with 49 points at the just ended LAF Club Championship.

She has been recruited on the national athletics team.

Meanwhile, Lee Robert Dennis of Fast Track Athletics Club has happily emerged as Liberia's new long distance champion.

On Saturday, he ran 16:32.22  to reach the finish line as champion, earning his first gold medal of the 5,000m event.

“I ran the 12 laps and a half as if it was six laps, because l have trained for this for two months,” Dennis told reporters.

Dennis hugely pushed Fast Track in the men’s relays, which contributed to the Club to win this year's Club Championship.
