8 Universities Set for 2021 Scorpion Inter-College Basketball Tournament

Flashback: AME Zion University players celebrate after retaining their title in 2019

This year’s edition of the Scorpion Inter-College Basketball Tournament, the fourth edition, will feature eight universities, the organizers have announced.

Back-to-back defending champions AME Zion University, Starz University, Blue Crest University, Stella Maris University, Adventist University, University of Liberia, Cuttington University and A.M.E. University, are the participating teams in this year’s edition.

The tournament is organized by Scorpion Incorporated, a social organization run by young Liberians, a majority of whom are graduates of the Blue Crest University, where they developed ideas to establish the organization.

It provides the platform to young athletes the rare opportunity to display their skills, talents, intelligence, confidence, university pride and leadership, to further advance them in society through sport.It will be played on a knockout basis for three Fridays, December 3, 10, and 17 at the Sports Commission on Broad Street.

The winners of this year’s edition will bag home L$70,000, while the runners-up will take home L$30,000.

Other prizes outlined by the organizers include MVP (L$15,000), Slam Dunk (L$8,000), and 3pts Winner (L$8,000).

The Slam Dunk and 3pts competitions will be hosted during the Final of the event that will also be characterized by performances from top Liberian celebrities and influencers.
