2021/22 LFA Super Cup Set for Buchanan this Weekend

League Cup winners Monrovia Club Breweries will face league champions LPRC Oilers in the men’s category of the Super Cup.

The traditional showpiece that raises the curtains for the new league season of the Orange National League is set for this weekend in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

Dubbed the “Super Cup” is a pre-season tournament that is held annually before the official kickoff of the league season.

It is contested by the winners of the national league and the Liberian Cup (PetroTrade Cup) in both men's and women’s divisions of the previous season.

In a situation where a single team wins the league and knockout cup, both finalists of the knockout cup will play the Super Cup before the new league season.

In the first showpiece this weekend, women’s division league champions Determine Girls will face cup winners Earth Angels.

Class A referee Lovetee Sector has been assigned to take charge of the match. She will be assisted by assistant referees Hannah Moses and Grace Wuo. Felecia Kuleh will serve as fourth official.

This will be followed by the second and final match of the day when league champions LPRC Oilers take on cup winners Monrovia Club Breweries at 15:30 GMT.

This match will be handled by FIFA badged referee Moses Forkpah, who will be assisted by Abraham Fahnbulleh and Ephraim Grant as assistant referees one and two, while Emmanuel Tarley will serve as fourth official.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has selected the Doris Williams Sports Pitch in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County as the host venue for this year’s Super Cup as part of its plans to decentralize the national league.
