2020/21 Orange Women’s Division League:  Agatha Nimene , Angeline Kieh Win Joint Golden Boot

Blanco FC star player Agatha Nimene and reigning women’s division MVP, Angeline Kieh on Saturday, May 29, ended the Orange Women’s Division league season as joint top scorers, each bagging home 26 goals in the 2020/21 season.

Before kickoff of the last round of games, Kieh was a goal ahead. Nimene scored Blanco FC’s lone goal from a spot-kick when they settled for a 1-1 draw against Earth Angels at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium to become joint top scorer.

Kieh, who has been playing utility role on her team since the start of the just ended league season, had opportunities to record additional goals in the last game, but was denied by goalkeeper Asata Dulleh.

Blanco FC got the spot-kick in the second half after Cryster Mulbah committed a handball in the penalty area. Earth Angels got the opener in the opening minutes of the second half when Sierra Leone international Kadiatu Kamara swung in a set piece from the left angle of Blanco’s defense.

The race for the golden boot appeared to be over midway through the season as Guinean international Hawa Conteh of Champions Determine Girls was far ahead of both Angeline and Agatha, but the duo held their nerves and kept scoring goals.

During the previous season, Angeline Kieh won the golden boot with 42 goals, while Agatha finished second with 35 goals.

Despite Saturday’s draw, Blanco finished as runners-up in the 2020/21 women’s division league and bagged home L$350,000.

They finished eight points behind champions Determine Girls and five points ahead of third-placed Earth Angels.
