Wilfred G. Peters Identifies with Shoe Shine Boys, Others
Wilfred G. Peters, an eminent citizen of Montserrado County Electoral District # 2, recently identified with shoe shine boys around Monrovia.
Mr. Peters, who resides in Bassa Community on the Capitol By-pass, told the Daily Observer that he had given the shoe shine boxes to the young men 'just as a way of identifying with them.'
He further said that shoe shine boys are among people who are often overlooked in the community but are “good citizens, who are earnestly earning their livelihoods.”
Mr. Peters who is sponsoring over 100 students at various institutions, including primary and tertiary institutions said that giving to the “less-fortunate” in the community should be everyone's business.
He has also donated several boxes of notebooks to over five elementary schools in the District.
Mr. Peters: “Every well meaning Liberian should be able to give back to their fellow Liberians, who are struggling to make ends meet.”
Quizzed as to the reasons for his donations to the shoe shine boys and other organizations in the district, the philanthropist, as he is regarded by most of the youths in the district, intoned that his gestures should not be misconstrued for anything negative other than display of humanitarianism at the moment.
