IE Sets February 27 As New Date for Election

MONROVIA – The Chairman of the Invincible eleven & Majestic Sports Association (IE&MSA) has released a revised calendar of events for its postponed election.

The election which was initially scheduled for January 23, 2009, was postponed to February 27, 2010, due to the passing of Lawrence Manneh Doe, Chairman of IE Board.

Coincidentally, Doe was buried on the day he helped designate as elections day for a new corps of officers for the association.

Releasing the new calendar of events earlier this week, the Chairman of IE&MSA Ad hoc Elections Commission, James B. Konuwa, Sr., used the occasion to call on all former and present supporters, fans and those desirous of joining the ‘Yellow Family’ to go through the necessary guidelines set for their participation in the electoral process.

The following is a detailed Revised Calendar of Events for the elections:

The Invincible Eleven & Majestic Sports Association (IEMSA) Will On Saturday, February 27, 2010 Go To The Polls To Elect A New Corps of Officers:

Due to the death of Lawrence M. Doe, Chairman IE Board, the election of new corps of officers was postponed to Feb. 27, 2010. Please see calendar of events.

1. Feb. 4-5: Re-publication of Guidelines and Calendar of Events

2. Feb. 4-15: Awareness, Talk Shows, Leaf lets, Posters etc. etc.

3. Feb. 4-23: Registration of Eligible Voters

RE-PUBLICATION OF GUIDELINES OF THE INVINCIBLE ELEVEN & MAJESTIC SPORT ASSOCIATION (IEMSA)

I. GOAL: The goal of these guidelines is to ensure that a free, fair and transparent process is in place to democratically elect the best persons to serve as National Officers of the Invincible Eleven and Majestics Sports Association (IEMSA). For a period of two (2) year term, consistent with the provisions of Article XI of the Constitution and By-Laws of the Association.

II. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: The specific objective will be to elect persons who meet all the requirements for qualification as a National Officer as laid out in the Constitution and By-Laws and the stature of a full fledge member of the Association in good standing morally and financially with unflinching loyalty to the principles and by-laws, objectives as spelt out in the Association’s constitution and Articles of Incorporation. The precepts below shall constitute the criteria for those who can vote and be voted for in elections for National Officers consistent with Article VI qualifications for National Officers of IEMSA.

a. PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE:
i. Must be a registered member in any of the fifteen counties of Liberia;
ii. Must be full member of IEMSA, with good character, moral and financial standing with the Association;
iii. Must be 35years of age or above;
iv. Must be domiciled in Liberia;
v. Must deposit with the Elections Commission the amount of Five Hundred ($500USD) United States Dollars as candidacy fee; NON REFUNDABLE.
vi. Must submit a copy of his/her platform including experience in leadership ability, CV and vision for moving the Association forward.

b. VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE:
i. Must be a registered member of any of the fifteen counties of Liberia;
ii. Must be full member of IEMSA, with good character, moral and financial standing with the Association;

iii. Must be 35years of age or above;
iv. Must be domiciled in Liberia;
v. Must deposit with the Elections Commission the amount of Four Hundred ($400USD) United States Dollars as Candidacy fee; NON REFUNDABLE.
vi. Must submit a copy of his/her experience in leadership ability and Curriculum Vitae (CV).

c. ALL OTHER NATIONAL OFFICERS: Shall gave the same criteria as the President and Vice Presidents except that they shall be liable to deposit with the Elections Commission the amount of One Hundred ($100USD) United States Dollars as Candidacy Fee. NON REFUNDABLE.
d. NATIONAL OFFICERS:

The following shall constitute National Officers of the Association consistent with Article VII of the Constitution and By-Laws of the Association;
I. The National President
II. The National Vice President for Administration
III. The National Vice President for Technical & Operations
IV. The National for Fan Club & Cheering Squad;
V. The National Secretary General
VI. The National Assistant Secretary General
VII. The National Treasurer
VIII. The National Chaplain
IX. The National Financial Secretary

NOTE: It is suggested that a number of other positions that have duplicated functions with the above positions be considered non-elective.

TENURE OF OFFICE: All National Officers including the Board shall serve for a period of two (2) years and will not stand for elections after three (3) consecutive terms of two years.

THE BOARD: The board shall be elected by the National Executive Officers and shall serve a term of (2) years.

VOTERS REGISTRATION CARD
All voters and interested candidates must obtain a voters registration card from the Elections Commission at designated points prior to the elections date. Members shall deposit $50.00 (Fifty Liberian Dollars) to obtain a card.
