UP Frowns on "Criminal-Minded" Persons

Published:  18 November, 2005

MONROVIA, November 18 – The Unity Party says it has learned with surprise and regret that some criminal-minded persons are engaged in writing letters of financial and material solicitation from business houses in Liberia in the name of the President-Elect, Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, and other party leaders.

A UP release said neither Mrs. Sirleaf nor the Vice President-Elect, Mr. Joseph N. Boakai, or any other executive of the Party has ever written or authorized the writing of any letter of solicitation on behalf of the party.

The Unity Party called on the public to be ware and to report any persons who make such requests to the nearest law enforcement officer and/or office.
