Princess Pitman Launches Debut Album
Published: 28 March, 2008
Yolanda Adams has touched audiences worldwide, including Liberia's young Princess Pitman, who is set to launch her debut album called 'Princess Passion'.
The young Liberian gospel artiste said the American gospel icon, Adams, is her model.
Yolanda Adams grew up in Houston, Texas, as the oldest of five children. She lived in a house filled with music. Her mother studied music and Yolanda heard everything from Gospel legends James Cleveland and the Edwin Hawkins Singers to jazz icon Nancy Wilson to pop/R&B great Stevie Wonder.
Those different styles of music, as well as a strong presence in the church, helped to shape Yolanda as a singer as well as a person.
It seems that Adams and Pitman have many things in common.
Pitman said her genealogy was rooted in gospel music and that she was glad to follow the footsteps of her descendants.
Pitman, who claimed to be a staunch Christian, said music had been a gift given to her by God.
The local musical star said she attends the Ark of Jesus Christ located in Jacob Town, Somalia Drive.
The star revealed that on Sunday an array of local stars would join her at the launching program.
She named Liberia's newest sensational star Moses Swaray and a gospel rapper Edwin Williams among many others that will feature in Sunday's concert.
Like her model Adams, Pitman averred that her album features gospel jazz, pop/R&B and praise.
The young gospel artiste said her album had made an impression in the gospel musical enclave of the country.
Pitman disclosed that she had the pre-launch of her album which she said was well attended.
She said the songs on the album had already hit the airwaves, adding many people had hailed her for the work.
Admission to Sunday's concert is LD$50.
