THE SIGNIFICANCE OF VOLUNTARY SERVICE AND THE NECESSITY OF TEACHING ITS CONCEPT AND PRACTICE IN OUR SOCIETY (PART TWO)
By Rev. Fr. James B. Sellee
Published: 29 February, 2008
The focus of this second article of our series on the necessity of inculcating in ourselves and our society the virtue of rendering free service to one another and the wider world is on how and why we should offer voluntary service. In the introductory article last week we reported a significant story of a group of Christians from a sister Church of St. Andrews, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, USA, and connected their example with the need for us to learn to do the same for others, to serve, sometimes without pay or expectation of pay.
