The Significance of Voluntary Service and the Necessity of Teachung Its Concept and Practice in Our Society , Part One

By Rev. Fr. James B. Sellee
Published:  22 February, 2008

On Monday through Saturday (February 4-9, 2008), the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Camp Johnson Road, was blessed with a team of seven Christian woman and men who provided free dental care to over 360 Liberians. These people came and shared their lives, expertise and faith with us the Liberian public in general and the St. Thomas Episcopal Parish in particular. As we reflect on their visit and what they came to share with us, we feel it might be useful to do a short series on the importance of voluntary service and the need for us (Liberians) to cultivate a habit of rendering free service and inculcating it in those coming after us.
