MONROIVA, A DAF truck marked UNMIL 13259 and assigned to NIBATT 17 of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) on Monday, August 25, 2008 crushed a lecturer at the United Methodist University (UMU) in the curve opposite the Gate of Heaven Church on Crown Hill, Broad Street, killing him instantly.

He could not be buried on Saturday as it was earlier announced owing to the deplorable road condition to the interment site in Bomi County, the family said.
MONROVIA, The senior pastor of the Jesus Christ the Name Above All Names Church, Pastor Patrick Korto, has committed suicide at his Du-port road residence in Paynesville city outside Monrovia. He is believed to be 54 and had a 50 to 60 membership in the church.

The former Minister of Justice of Liberia and Honorary Consul General to the Kingdom of Sweden, Cllr. Lawrence A. Morgan, is dead. Cllr. Morgan passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2008 at John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital following a brief illness. He was 85.

The death is announced of Lawrence Morgan, former Justice Minister during the Tolbert regime. The late Morgan is noted for his famous Attorney General's Opinion requested by Tolbert to determine whether a President of Liberia is exempt from paying taxes. Morgan's Opinion was that Tolbert was exempted.

MONROVIA, A Bishop was assassinated late Monday night after a woman, who claimed to be in distress, awoke him to come and pray over her ailing child. (This was later proved to be a scam). Reports say on recognizing the caller's voice, the Bishop opened his room door to usher in the caller. He was immediately hacked to death by four other accomplices of the woman, reports disclosed. His assailants immediately escaped. The police have now launched a rigorous search for the suspects.
