Liberia: Liberia’s Athletic Team Wins Silver, Bronze Medals at All African Games in Ghana

Liberia’s track and field team won silver and bronze medals in the Women’s and Men’s 4x100m Relays (respectively) on Wednesday night at the All African Games in Ghana.

In the ongoing 13th African Games, Liberia’s Women's relay team placed second in the 4x100m finals earning a silver medal with a time of 44.02.

In the lineup, Liberian hurdler Ebony Morrison led the women’s relay team as the veteran female of Liberia track. The three promising newcomers were Destiny Smith-Barnett (second leg), Shania Collins (third leg), and Maia McCoy (anchor).“With a blend of seasoned veterans and promising newcomers, Liberia left a lasting impression on the continental stage in one of track and field’s most electrifying events,” said Mr. Mulbah Zaza, President of the Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF).

Also, Liberia’s men emerged third in the Men’s 4×100 relay and proudly received the bronze medals.

Renowned sprinters Emmanuel Matadi and Joseph Fahnbulleh, who have impressive international credentials, led the relay. The duo competed with the last 4×100 team, which set the national record of 38.76.

Two outstanding newcomers, Jabez Reeves and John Sherman, who were called up from their college teams, joined Matadi and Fahnbulleh Reeves and came second in a tight final run.

John Sherman was the first leg; the second leg was Emmanuel Matadi; the third leg was Jabez Reeves and the anchor was Joseph Fahnbulleh.
