Amidst sorrow over the recent loss of their lawmaker, citizens of Gbarpolu County have reaffirmed their unflinching support to the Presidential bid of the Standard Bearer of the Collaborating Political Parties, (CPP), Alexander Cummings.

The citizens, in pledging their support, made a   passionate appeal to Cummings to address the disastrous road conditions, and that he should also build a vocational school in their county.

Cummings visited Gbarpolu on  September 11, and was accorded a rousing and traditional welcome  in Sawmill, Gbarma and Bobolu cities, by hundreds of jubilant citizens and masked dancers.

In the three districts, Gbarpolu citizens presented white chicken and kola nuts to the CPP Standard Bearer, indicative of purity of heart and reaffirmation of their continuous support to the CPP of which the late Gbarpolu County Senator Daniel Naatehn served as Vice National Chairman.

Naatehn died on August 8, in India, where he had gone for medical treatment, following a brief illness. Cummings paid homage to the late Senator whom he described as a friend, brother, and colleague, and said he will long be remembered for his sacrificial services and significant contributions to the ANC/CPP, and Liberia including Gbarpolu.

At a separate indoor program organized by citizens in Gbarma and Bobolu, and attended by hundreds of citizens including Chiefs, elders, youth and women groups, Motorcyclists Association, and inter-religious groups,  the citizens reaffirmed their support and vowed to vote Cummings as the next President of Liberia.

The CPP Standard Bearer expressed gratitude to the citizens of Gbarpolu for the warm reception and massive turnout in the towns visited, with the assurance that upon his ascendancy as President, he will alleviate the suffering and extreme poverty in Liberia.

Cummings vowed to fix the deplorable road condition, improve the health and educational systems, and establish a micro-loan scheme for Liberian entrepreneurs including market women to sustain and grow their businesses.

He said the CPP Government would revive the ailing economy, transform the lives of Liberians,  and create massive job opportunities for the thousands of unemployed Liberians.

Cummings appealed to Gbarpolu County citizens to retrospect on the good work of their late Naatehn and remain committed and steadfast in their support for the Presidential bid of the CPP.

Meanwhile, CPP has donated L$1.8 million worth of building materials to victims of the flood disaster, in Robertsports, Grand Cape Mount County.

Lake Piso, which reached a dangerously high level, destroyed over 10 houses which rendered dozens of residents homeless in the Kru community in Robertsport last week.

Making the donation of the L$1.8 million worth of building materials including zinc, cement, and steel rods, CPP Vice Standard Bearer, Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine empathized with the flood victims and hoped the assistance would help them relocate and begin rebuilding their homes.

She extended sympathy to the affected families on behalf of the CPP Standard Bearer Cummings who, she said, was visiting other parts of the country and could not be available to join her in reaching out to them.

A spokesperson for over 27 families expressed gratitude to the CPP for the rapid response to their request for urgent assistance to help rebuild their lives.

They expressed the hope that Liberian Government authorities and other Liberians as well as humanitarian organizations will come to their aid to help them rebuild their lives.
