Presidents and Secretaries General of sporting associations and federations in the country have been encouraged to begin early preparations to enable them qualify for the next Olympic Games.

The President of the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC), Philipbert Brown, said that he is hopeful of his re-election for his third quadrillion at the local governing Olympiad house, as his 2nd quadrillion comes to an end this year. A quadrillion at the “Olympic Committee,” is a 4-year term of an appointed or elected President.

Mr. Brown indicated that he wants the third quadrillion at the LNOC, which he supposedly considered his last term to directly run the affairs of Olympiad House and to “test” his apparent successor, Cllr. Sylvester Rennie, who is serving as Vice President for Administration.

The tough-mannered LNOC boss and his favorite heir, mild-mannered, came at the helm of the Committee eight years ago.

He told our reporter in an exclusive interview via mobile phone over the weekend that his last term at the helm of the LNOC will allow him to effusively fulfill his dream and passion for the Olympiad games, by promoting and developing them.

The local basketball governing body, the Liberia Basketball Association (LBA), is appealing to the Chief Patron of Sports, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, other sports enthusiasts, Liberians and foreigners as well as business institutions to help the LBA raise US$80,000 for the successful hosting of an eight-nation basketball tournament.
