After the landing of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) subsea optical fiber cable in November of last year, many Liberians were awakened to the idea of affordable broadband internet services. Since then, there has been substantial progress made toward the provision of broadband services in Liberia. And although considerable progress has been made, there is more work to be done to ensure broadband services are provided in and beyond Monrovia. The landing of the ACE subsea optical fiber cable is just one of the many tasks that need to be completed before we experience the impact of broadband possibilities. Another task, which is very crucial to the successful delivery of affordable broadband services, is the deployment of a national backbone network.
