In a statement issued minutes after the reading of Charles Taylor’s guilty verdict by presiding Judge Richard Lussick, Global Witness, reminded the Special Court that after succeeded in delivering justice for many war victims in Sierra Leone, “Taylor has not yet been held to account for crimes he committed against the people of Liberia, whom he terrorized from 1989 to 2003.”

A youth organization has commended President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for what it describes as her recent timely intervention when she ordered an immediate halt to construction works carried out within the proximity of the Roberts International Airport by “some unscrupulous Liberians.”
