Passport Issuance Resumes Next Week

The passport section of Liberia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which issues Liberian passports and other traveling documents, was gutted by fire few days ago

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it will resume the issuance of passports to applicants beginning next Wednesday. The Ministry temporarily suspended issuing passports last week due to the fire incident in the basement of the Ministry, which affected the Passport Section.

With sadness I learned only yesterday of the passing of one of Liberia’s truly gifted minds, the dissident freelance journalist, Tarty Teh. Speaking at the then OAU Economic Summit in Lagos in April 1980 Guinean President Ahmed Sekou Toure said the following to his colleagues: “I am requesting you in the name of Africa and her morality to please discharge a moral of observing a minute of silence to the memory of the late President W.R. Tolbert, Jr. Thank you Comrades!” I am moved by similar sentiments to call on fellow Liberians that we perform a moral duty by pausing a moment in memory of Tartey Teh.
